Are you fit for life?
Fitness is about being healthy in all areas of your life. Being fit involves making your health a priority. It involves appropriate exercise and healthy eating habits. It involves getting enough sleep and reducing stress. It involves eliminating the habits that no longer serve you. It involves expanding your mind and exploring your spirit. It involves finding the right amount of effort and the right amount of ease in all areas of your life. It involves changing the way you think. It involves a commitment to YOU! The good news is that the journey to fitness involves small, positive changes that will eventually get you to your destination. I know this for a fact...
my story

I became committed to being fit following a painful back injury sustained while COOKING in 1998. Yes, picking up a full gallon of milk sent me on an 18 month journey of doctor visits, chiropractic care, physical therapy, and massage therapy. Despite my chiropractor telling me I would be in pain the rest of my life, deep down I knew I could heal my body through exercise. I was right, and that prompted me to want to share the gift of healing with others. My journey as a fitness professional began in 2001 as a group fitness instructor and, eventually, an ACE personal trainer. But after years of teaching step aerobics, kickboxing, boot camp and body sculpt, I realized the need for an alternative discipline, both physically and mentally, to the fast-paced, body-pounding classes I was teaching. I turned to yoga, and eventually decided to become a yoga teacher. I've since completed more than 1,000 hours of yoga teacher training. I am a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500) and a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT).. In 2014, I became a master trainer for YogaFit, the school I attended, and have the privilege to guide other teachers on their yogic path. Now the majority of the classes I teach in my studio are yoga-based. I use humor and a positive attitude when teaching, encouraging my students to smile and enjoy the journey! A foodie at heart, someday I plan to combine my love for cooking with my love for yoga & fitness.

what is yoga therapy?
Yoga therapy specifically explores yoga postures, breathwork, meditation and more to address an individual's needs physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. Yoga therapy can address a range of concerns such as chronic pain, neurologic issues, mental health, illness support, and healthy aging, leading to overall well-being. Yoga therapy clients are usually not coming to learn yoga, but to get help with or relief from some symptom or health condition that is troubling them. In most cases, the instruction focuses on their condition and how the yoga techniques can help them feel better or improve their function, rather than on the techniques or methods of yoga practice. Yoga therapy services are offered individually or in small groups, rather than in a larger class setting.
